CAREGIVER PROGRAMS*
Caregiver Training
- Caregiver Counseling
(Individual and Group)
This program is led by a trained mental health professional
to discuss unique challenges of care giving for stroke
“victor”. Individual sessions are available. Group programs
are limited to 10 participants. Phone the office to schedule
an appointment or sign-up for a group program.
- Caregiver Advisor
(Individual)
Each caregiver is invited to meet with our Caregiver Advisor
to develop a Caregiver/Victor Handbook. This is a handbook
of information designed for each victor/caregiver
individually, to alleviate caregiver concern about the “what
ifs” of caregiving. Caregivers will be trained to record all
information from each doctor visit in this handbook. All
pertinent information will be placed in this book, in order
that in an emergency another caregiver can step in and take
over when needed. The advisor will meet with the caregiver
quarterly to update the information, answer questions and
refer to other programs as appropriate.
- Caregiver as Therapist
Caregivers and their stroke victors meet one on one with
licensed professionals (physical therapy, speech therapy) to
review home therapy programs, assess future goals, and solve
daily concerns/crises. A limited number of sessions are
available for those in our Service Delivery Area…for more
information call the office at 561-745-0400
